Gay Newlyweds Receive Mysterious Congratulatory Letter From White House President Obama hasn’t thrown his full support behind legalizing same-sex marriage, but he did send a card congratulating Matt Katz on his marriage in Brooklyn over the summer. It’s pretty cool of the President — and also a little creepy since Katz and his husband have no idea why they received a belated thumbs up from the White House. Katz told Buzzfeed: I’m not sure why the letter got sent to us. Aaron and I were married on July 24th at Borough Hall. However, we had our wedding ceremony on July 23rd at my dad’s house the day before. Maybe word got out that we were outlaws for a day? It’s possible a relative secretly sent an invitation to the White House (or that this is fake) but if President Obama is just sending out unsolicited greetings, he owes us quite a few birthday cards.
